Solomun in Tulum: why they call him "the King"

They call him "the King," and after one of his parties, you get why. He's in my top three of the parties I've loved most in Tulum, if not number one. He felt like a puppeteer: he moves his hands and you start dancing to his rhythm. There's no resisting his sound.

What it feels like, from someone who's been
His party was insane, and the way everybody connects with him and he connects with the crowd. That night ended around noon, and I was still ready to keep going: they came in and literally pulled the plug, and we didn't want to leave. My feet were killing me, but I couldn't stop dancing. The vibe was unreal. After that party, the bar was set really high for every other one.
He can play tracks with no vocals, tracks with vocals, even pop songs, but he blends them in an unbelievable way, and the whole time he's trying to get you dancing close.
The sound: deep house with a lot of vocals
Deep house, melodic techno and indie dance, with a slow BPM, catchy basslines and plenty of vocals, sometimes even a full chorus. His album Nobody Is Not Loved (2021) leaned even more into vocals and pop elements. He has legendary remixes that took him mainstream, for artists like Lana Del Rey, Foals, Interpol and even Leonard Cohen.
